Class sizes are limited and preregistration is required.   Classes are filled first-come, first-served.

Schedules are subject to change due to instructor and/or facility availability or inclement weather.

NOTE:  A fire at the adjacent building resulted in the closure of KCFA’s Oak Street training site.  KCFA’s classes are being held at the Humane Society of Jefferson County and at Celtic K9 Academy.  Please see class listings below for specific site information.

Puppy Kindergarten

Basic Skills and Everyday Manners
$105.00 for In-Person Class (7 weeks)

Continuing Basic

Dogs About Town
$90.00

  • TBD — occasional offering during summer months
  • Outdoor class held in various locations;  days and times may vary in order to take advantage of local sites and events. 
  • Each class lasts approximately 90 minutes; length may vary.
  • For dogs with Intermediate to Advanced skills
  • Prerequisite — Basic Skills Criteria
  • Participants will be notified via email of the week’s location.
  • Rain or shine, unless severe weather threatens.
  • Wear clothing appropriate for the weather and comfortable walking shoes.
  • Participants should bring water for their dogs and themselves.

Rally Obedience

Junior Handling
Free (4 weeks)

  • Offered occasionally as a special workshop
    Open to children of KCFA members only; for children ages 4-10 years.  Four weekly sessions of 30 minutes each.  Dogs must be under reasonable control of the child and must be safe in a group setting.  Parent or guardian must be present for each class.  KCFA General Agreement and Training Class Application must be completed (see forms below).

Carting
(4 weeks) (Cost TBD)

  • Offered occasionally as a special workshop. Limited to six dogs.  Wait-listed applicants should attend the first meeting in case any dogs are withdrawn due to refusal of the harness or cart.

Registration Forms

  • PUPPY WAIVER  (Required for Puppy Kindergarten only)
  • GENERAL AGREEMENT (Required for all classes including Puppy K )
  • TRAINING CLASS APPLICATION (Required for all classes including Puppy K)
  • COVID 19 PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT  (Not required at this time — subject to change).
  • Vaccination records required!  Exception: If your dog participated in the previous training session and the vaccines are still current, a second copy is not required.

How to Register:

Preregistration is required.

  • Download and print the specified forms
  • Complete all required forms
  • Obtain a copy of your dog’s vaccination record
  • Mail forms with payment and vaccination records to:

  • Class sizes are limited.  Preregistration is required.
  • Registration fees are non-refundable unless received after the desired class is full.
  • A copy of vaccination records must be provided along with the course registration forms.  Exception:  If your dog participated in the previous training session and the vaccinations are still current, you do not need to provide another copy.
  • Handlers must clean up after their dogs, both inside and outside the building.
