Furry Friends 5K<\/h2>\n

The Kennel Club of Fort Atkinson participates in the annual Furry Friends 5K Run\/Walk in support of the Humane Society of Jefferson County. \u00a0Stop and say \u201chi\u201d at our booth\u00a0 at the Jefferson County Fair Park. \u00a0We\u2019ll be ready to provide information about dog training classes and, if you\u2019re interested, membership in our club. \u00a0We\u2019re always happy to just \u201ctalk dogs,\u201d with fellow enthusiasts, too!<\/p>\n

Club Meetings<\/h2>\n

The Kennel Club of Fort Atkinson holds meetings on the first Monday of odd-numbered months, typically in the evening. Exceptions may include the January meeting and when a holiday (such as Labor Day) requires that the meeting be on an alternate date.<\/p>\n

Members of the public\u00a0and especially those considering membership are welcome and invited to attend meetings. \u00a0For further information or to confirm a meeting date, time or location, call the KCFA at 920-568-0364 and leave a message to receive a return call.<\/p>\n

Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Test<\/h2>\n

The Kennel Club of Fort Atkinson occasionally offers the American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. \u00a0The CGC is a non-competitive test open to all dogs, including purebreds and mixed breeds, and is a prerequisite for many therapy dog certifications.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0AKC\u2019s CGC program<\/a>\u00a0rewards dogs that have good manners at home and in the community, and successful completion of\u00a0the 10-step test makes the dog eligible for the\u00a0American Kennel Club\u2019s CGC title<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fun Match<\/h2>\n

The Kennel Club of Fort Atkinson is holding its 25th Annual Spring Fun Match on Saturday, April 27th, at the Western Waukesha County Dog Training Club in Ixonia, Wisconsin.\u00a0 The Match will be conducted according to AKC rules and regulations, including the new AKC Obedience Regulations\u00a0which went into effect May 1, 2018.<\/p>\n

The KCFA Spring Fun Match allow handlers a chance to \u201ctune up\u201d in the show ring before the big spring shows, it also offers handlers a valuable opportunity to practice the new Obedience exercises outside of a formal trial setting.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n

Classes include Obedience, Rally, Conformation, Junior Showmanship (including PeeWees, 2 \u2013 4 years old), and a Rare Breed Show. \u00a0Our Fun Match is the perfect opportunity to \u201cget your feet wet\u201d in the competition ring or\u00a0to brush up skills for upcoming shows and trials.<\/p>\n

25th Anniversary Celebration<\/h2>\n

In recognition of\u00a0KCFA\u2019s 25th<\/sup> anniversary, members hosted an informal gathering at Fort Atkinson\u2019s Legion Dugout, 201 S Water Street E, on Sunday, October 29, 2017, from 12 noon to 3:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

Current KCFA students, former students, former members, and KCFA friends and family\u00a0gathered with the club\u2019s founders and current members for refreshments, memories and conversation.<\/p>\n

K9 Veterans Memorial Dedication<\/h2>\n

The K9 Veterans Memorial\u00a0was dedicated in Fort Atkinson’s McCoy Park (1202 Madison Avenue) on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at 1:30 p.m.\u00a0 \u00a0The dedication\u00a0included special guests, music and refreshments. \u00a0Limited seating\u00a0was provided and parking\u00a0was available at MATC (827 Banker Road) with a shuttle to the park. \u00a0Visit our K9 Veterans Memorial page<\/a><\/span> for more information\u00a0about the memorial.<\/p>\n
